Welcome to Zionsville Dentistry

Dental health care, not disease care. That is how this practice has always put it, and it is why an exam here checks the health of the whole mouth, screens for oral cancer, and takes x-rays only when they are needed.

Then, when a smile needs more, we restore it and enhance it, conservatively and beautifully.

How this practice works

Three things we hold ourselves to.

Your smile is our top priority, and our whole team is here to give you personalized, gentle care. In practice, that comes down to three commitments.

01

Education and prevention first

Preventive care and education are the keys to good dental health.

Thorough exams, oral cancer screening, and x-rays only when necessary. Routine cleanings, flossing, sealants and fluoride all help prevent disease, and a review of your medical history keeps us aware of anything that affects your teeth.

02

Uncompromising safety

Infection control in this office is very important to us.

Sterilization and cross-contamination processes follow the standards recommended by the American Dental Association, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

03

A visit you can relax into

We know how uneasy some people feel about the dentist.

Building trust starts with treating every patient as an individual. The whole team works to make each visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Periodontal Disease

Gum disease is usually painless early on, which is why it is looked for at every exam. Caught as gingivitis, a cleaning or two often puts it right.

Four that people ask about most.

Porcelain Veneers

Very thin porcelain, made to your shape and shade by a dental laboratory and bonded to the front of the tooth. Usually two visits, with little or no anesthesia.

Teeth Whitening

Custom clear trays made from impressions of your own teeth, worn at home with whitening solution for a couple of weeks. Old fillings are matched afterwards, not before.

Dental Implants

An artificial root placed in the jaw, left to heal and integrate for up to six months, then fitted with a natural-looking tooth. It can also steady a bridge or a denture.

Dentures & Partials

Complete dentures when every tooth in an arch is gone, partials when some remain. Made from precise impressions, with try-in visits for shape, color and fit.

New and returning patients

A check-up here is more than a polish.

We recommend an exam and cleaning at least twice a year. This is what every one of those visits covers, so you know what to expect before you arrive.

At every exam and cleaning

  1. A review of your medical history and any new medications
  2. X-rays when they are needed, to find decay, cysts and bone loss
  3. An oral cancer screening of the face, neck, lips, tongue and throat
  4. A gum disease evaluation, and a check of every tooth surface for decay
  5. A check of your existing fillings and crowns
  6. Tartar and plaque removed, then the teeth polished
  7. Advice on home care and diet, if it would help

Frequently asked questions

What patients ask us most.

How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?

At least twice a year, though your dentist or hygienist may suggest more often. A good exam is much more than a check for cavities: it includes an oral cancer screening, a gum disease evaluation, a look at your existing fillings and crowns, and x-rays when they are needed.

How often should I brush and floss?

Brush at least twice a day, especially before bed, with a soft-bristle brush held at a 45 degree angle to the gums. Floss once a day, curving the floss into a C shape around each tooth and just under the gumline. Electric toothbrushes work well too.

How can I tell if I have gum disease?

Often you cannot, because it is usually painless early on. Signs to mention to us are red or puffy gums, gums that bleed when you brush or floss, persistent bad breath, new gaps between teeth, loose teeth and receding gums.

Are silver (amalgam) fillings safe?

The American Dental Association, the CDC, the World Health Organization and the FDA all support amalgam as safe. There are alternatives, including tooth-colored composite, porcelain and gold, and we are happy to talk through which suits you.

What can I do about stained or discolored teeth?

Whitening is the simplest route, with custom trays you wear at home. It works on natural enamel only, so older fillings or crowns may need replacing afterwards to match. Veneers are the answer for staining whitening cannot reach.

Can I use the appointment form to change a booking?
